would you tell me more about this guitar.As my opinion purple wire is for bassing. you should connect to nearest to red color. If it is not working then you should connect to near black wire. I think after that it is working, You must have to connect purple wire any where in your guitar.
It looks to me almost like the tiny little circuit board is missing a wire - the board just below the middle of the 3 pots.
I could be wrong, but it might be worth a look.

This isn't a circuit board but a switch. Since I don't know the instrument I can't tell whether this is for bypassing of the preamp or for switching between pickups. Since it seems to have a "blend" pot I assume it is the former.
What is the purple wire connected to on the preamp PCB ? If we knew that we could guess where the other side could belong to.
