Hi GM I just a hour replying to this post only to lose it when the internet dropped out. I will try again after some sleep.

I have a lot of drop outs, so long ago got wise and started writing responses more than a sentence or two long off-line and saving to various folders. I currently have an 8.1 GB reference library of 4,290 folders with 42,659 files to browse for an answer.

Hey Serenechaos Thank you kindly for dropping in. The LeCleaches range of loading was something I really needed to know about. I am envious of your tannoy reds. I would love a pair of tens. I am sure they where the best ever made. I don't quiet get where they fit into your system though. Either in the LeCleach with a compression chamber or above them? Keep you tens . Your kids will probably buy a house with them one day.

Yes, I like the tannoy red tens better than any other cone driver I've heard. They are on the "warm" side, and using them with the LeCleac'h front horn helps bring out details in the "fundamental" range.
The 160Hz LeCleac'h FLH actually works in the same freq range as the front horn part of the Tannoy Westminster and earlier Autograph compound horns.
(Tannoy list the front horn as contributing from 300 to 1kHz, and the back horn between 30 and 250 Hz).

I was using the Tannoys with the LeCleac'h FLHs from ~200 up,
sitting on a pair of 15" drivers in FLHs, ~4' long + closed back chamber from ~55 - 200Hz,
and a pair of tapped horns from ~20 - 55Hz.

apart now, working on the five-way, w/ compression drivers...

Back after much needed sleep

Gday Gm Yes I normally copy it before I send it off. But I was tired and only half awake. Probably I good thing anyway. I get to reread your posts.

Yes the smith horn concept . I am interested in making a cone version to match the upper mid ones I have bought. Try to get a small cone driver to sound similar to the compression driver. With hope to get the same wide dispersion and warm tone to mate to a reflex and get a very compact speaker system time aligned for passive crossover.

I checked your Sim again for the bib. Thank you for running it for me. I have tried myself and have yet to understand it. I wish I had thought before it started off on that path because I don't think its the way I will go now. What puts me off the idea of a bib now is that it will be untested and it has a huge droop at 100hz Perhaps the room will fill that though. Interestingly it will go right though to 1k making the need of a mid bass redundant. That makes it still worthy of consideration. If it really could mate straight to the jabo horn. Or any other horn for that matter. I have a feeling I will be trying a few different ones.

I sent Erik Voker(Volvo) a email and if he understood my question correctly he seems to think his folder tapped horn will meet with his trattric mid bass. I have 60* 60cm square in my speaker area then out side of that 40*40 cm. I have quiet a large area to fit my speakers. He has a plan proven for a folded tapped horn

This is very compact and will easily sit underneath his mid bass horn. When I talk about laying in my bed its not quiet accurate. I sit up in bed. My ear level in 125cm. Which is easily obtainable by stacking any mid horn I want on top of Erik's mid bass horn. Which then can be stacked on Erik's Tapped bass horn. A very simple compact set up. That is easy to mix and match components between diffferent systems if need to. I spend a lot of time in bed as have worn my lower back out from bad balance from a amputated foot. My daughter is just little girl at just 4 and is a unexpected but amazing gift. We watch TV together in bed when where home. I do need to get my lounge back together. We cant lay in bed forever. We live in the tropics where we air con 24/7 so choosing the smallest room saves energy all so which is getting increasing dear here and everywhere I guess. I use a 6 watt amp now. I could drop that back to a 2 watts with a full horn set up. Anyway back to this system.

I hoping I can use my tapped auto trans and passive crossover for treble mid and mid bass as it will be hopefully time aligned and use a Small Chip amp for the tapped horn with the dsp crossover set up. I hope! that is has OK sound. I have listened to usb dacs and mp3 replay. Iam happy with all of that. So I am hoping the dsp will be OK too. I have not listened to a time aligned digital crossover. I am hoping that it is no worse then the other digital I use. To me its all about averages. If I make a very very good amp and speaker it should make up for short comings in a digital front end. And in time they will get better.

Thats why my full passive jbl horn / reflex set up is plan b. Whether it stays in my bed room or lounge it will be cool. I think it is very near time to start building!
