I need a USB Sound Card with digital input

I got my HiFime UR23 and it,s brilliant, it appears as an input device in Audacity so no problem to record.
I have it plugged into the DAC on my Hifi system. It gives digital output for the UR23 and so to USB in to Audacity.

Great to hear and thank you for sharing. I ordered one (as well as the slightly more expensive one that does higher sample rates) to try out. Seems like a great solution for adding a TOSLINK input to a CamillaDSP system using a USB DAC like a MOTU M4.

Sorry for giving you a hard time earlier, this thread highlighted some inexpensive options that I was certainly unaware of.

My only wish at this point is a similar inexpensive option that also has an ASRC. miniDSP 2x4HD can do it but is a bit expensive to just use a TOSLINK input with ASRC

My M-Dac is limited to 96? sample rate, it gives Toslink out for whatever it is playing so the cheaper one was enough for me. I have been trying to solve this problem for years. This seems simple and ideal, appears as input to Audacity.
Its a conspiracy

Wondering if you guys using the HiFime UR23 can comment on any additional latency these introduce? I hope to run optical into my Mac hosted loudspeaker management… but worry about any latency these might introduce. Thanks 🙏

I don’t think UR23 itself will be the issue with latency, but it is only a capture device so you will need to use another output device which has a different clock domain. You will need some way to implement a buffer and adaptive resampling to bridge the clock domains and this will involve some latency. Based on my experience with CamillaDSP I would expect at least 30 ms latency. Not too bad for audio / video applications but not good enough to be truly real time.
