I know someone who works in the electronics sheet metal fab business. I'm going to ask him to do a short run of amplifier cabinet parts for me. I'll keep a few and then sell off the rest at cost.
NO, I am NOT taking orders but I want to know what would be the most useful design for people. I'm trying to get the cost down to an absolute minimum so all of the drilling and tapping would be done by the end user (you and me)
I propose a six sided box. The front, rear, top and bottom made from aluminum sheet that I will have sheared and bent. The front, rear and bottom will likely be one piece. The sides are heat sink extrusions that are drilled and tapped to hold the sheet metal parts.
If you think this design might be popular then what size would be best? Not the the heat sink are is determined by the height times the depth of the box.

I'd be interested to know how his prices to compare to this outfit (an advertiser here, I think):
Front Panel Express:*Front Panel Design Software and CAD Conversion Service
I find the idea fascinating, that everything may be "DIY" soon, or at least, made one- or a few-at-a-time, and highly customized. With "3D printing", this is an emerging technology. If my work is any indication, it'd be wonderful just having a nice box to hide my horrible abortion of a (sometimes working!) electronic project inside it.

I would hope the price could be MUCH less. BUt I'm wonder what size people would like. And if the heak sink on the sides design is popular

Eventually that might happen. 300 years ago clothing was all custom made to your measurements. There was n "off the rack". Maybe we can get back to that point.
