I made my choice (deep and small), now what to build?

I tried a Teufel home cinema sub and I finally know, what does "one note bass" means. Also, the bass sounds very "slow". I guess I am used to my 40 Hz bass horn lows, which are just awesome - but there is no way I can fit these monsters into my smaller listening room - I would love to, though - maybe I will try one day to temporarily move them just for fun.

I have a list of things I would like to try (except the ones mentioned in the thread already).

a) 18" corner/H-frame dipole woofer. I have two corners available - but there is definitely not much room around.

b) This litle beast: https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/342452-deep-sound-output.html#post5909758 - however it is too high, I would need one more fold to fit it below the slanted roof part. It looks like very cost efficient. I wonder if tapped horns sound as good as normal front loaded bass horns.

c) A backloaded horn subwoofer - alphorn - this should basically work fine when low-passed.

d) Some kind of smallish corner horn - there are two perfect corners to work as further expansion - preferably easier to built than this one eck-horn

"Normal" tapped horns does not sound as good as true front loaded bass horns (in my experience), but front loaded bass horns that goes down to 25 Hz tends to be huge!!!

With higher order tapped designs you get closer to the sound quality of true front loaded bass horns.

B&C Speakers

With a single B&C 10FW64 you can build a tapped pipe with a long L34 (lots of positive acoustic feedback that makes it more punchy in the midbass).

110 x 30,6 x 29 cm (H x W X D) if built from 18 mm plywood.

Here is the Hornresp data if someone wants to play around with this design.

I really like the Group Delay curve. It is very smooth and flat in the midbass which makes for a good midbass punch.

With the typical room gain profile in most living rooms it will sound quite flat down to 25 Hz.

The magnet of driver is on the wrong side in the sketch. It needs to be protruding out into the last section and the baffle needs to be dual layer 18 mm plywood to make room for it.

Speaker B&C Speakers 10FW64, 8 ohm, 10 inch

An other option is the Scan-Speak 22W/8857T00 (Danish driver btw) in a 45L ported sub. That hits the 30hz more or less flat and is less than your maximum size (i came in a fast modelling to 45x45x35cm as a workable size). The driver is 86dB efficient and can handle 80w so it should get where you want it.

You can tune it lower also, but then the size of the sub gets bigger, a 70L ported can be tuned to 25hz and still fit your size limits.

Just to give some more options.

Great, thank you for this suggestion also! I will check that one. The amplifier in the Teufel is quite good, maybe another woofer may be installed and the box retuned. I bought it for less than forty bucks, I saw they are sold for more than 100 used normally. Mine had a few scratches and there was no remote, but still a good price.

Hi Circlomanen, interesting design! Have you built it? Do you think it can be folded in something like 60x60x30,6 without loose sound quality? I'm in search of a project like TPAM10HTL but with little more extension over 100hz for crossing over satellites and this seems the right one

No, not this exact design. I have used a long L34 (lots of positive acoustic feedback) in several other tapped pipe designs. I can't fold it into something close to your 60x60x30,6 cm without adding lots of complexity.
