I probably do 10's of thousands of solder joints a year when I make stuff to sell.Nigel, you should be giving this nice lady some soldering lessons, don't you think? With your experience.
Even with that experience I still get the occasional bad joint.
Either joint missed altogether, a bridge or a half made joint which is dry.
But you do hold the solder iron the right way. What's holding you back to help a nice lady.
Why bother? Clearly she is a Targaryen.... should be giving this nice lady some soldering lessons ...

Somebody somewhere wrote about livening up the repair shop by reversing a coworker's soldering iron on the holder so if they'd reach for it without looking, hilarity would ensue. People were tougher in the vacuum tube era, or maybe it was normal to drink on the job.
