Up to now I haven't seen this listed.
I am pretty sure most have seen the following page:
http://www.audiovisualizers.com/madlab/lcd_proj.htm
Thing is: at the middle bottom of the page, after a title that says:
"Here are some other LCD projector plans recently mailed to me by somebody, I scanned them in for you:"
There are some plans for building an LCD proyector WITHOUT having to dismantle an LCD monitor (That is , without taking the backlight off)...
Is this possible? I am new in this , and I am just researching a lot before I start my project, so (Because I am really lousy with my hands), it certainly sounds interesting to be able to do it without having to dismantle the LCD monitor.
Are the plans found on that site suitable for making a decent proyector?
Thanks!

it is possible. at least in theory. But in theory, the output brightness will be low. Since all (? not 100% sure) LCD mointors are using transmissive LCD screens, they will not reflect light very well. some PDAs do use reflective 360x240 LCDs.

I built that same exact box and I must say, it failed miserably. I even stuck a reflective LCD (gameboy color) in and it didn't work so well. very difficult to get light into the right spot on the LCD.
