Pioneer used to make some rather nice drivers, they even made ribbon tweeters at one point, there car drivers are not as good as they used to be, since moving to Mexico in 1995, no offence.

There was a big quality jump down from the Japanese products.
Those Pioneer units are not bad, the magnet is a nice strontium unit and the coil is of very good quality.

To me they sound rather over dampend and can sound flappy.

On the positive there loud and robust, they do well with most music and are good value for money, much more so than other drivers at the same price range for other manufacturers.

Nothing to be ashamed of there.

my mate designed a 35hz basshorn for me with the pioneer tsw-305c, which i think is the one below that model you got. if you can get someone to model up a horn design for them, they will definatly make a good basshorn 😀

and the 8" venoms, used to have two of them aswell as a 10"

the 8" venoms can be used in a 40hz horn enclosure too

Thank you David for correcting my flag.

The TSW 301 was even better than the TSW 305 F or C.

The futher down the line you go the better they where.

Not anymore in my ears.

Basshorns can make almost anything sound powerful!

The enclosure makes the speaker, not the other way around.

according to the box, the subs I have ARE the 305C's 😛

if I wanted a horn I'd design my own... lol which I may do, as well as a sealed, and a ported, then compare the output of all three (in a car 😀)

sweeet as!!!

well i can tell you that those subs in the horn will produce over 130db which is plenty of loudness for a room!!

the efficiency of the subs in the horn is around 107db which is quite loud and will easily overpower the sound of ported and sealed designs.

if your good at woodworking skills, you should try modeling up these for a horn enclosure 😀

hmm if you wanted them in a car, i doubt that the horn will fit in unless you have got something big.

heres the plan measurements. the box is 350mm wide

I read about the Pioneer PREMIER TS-W2000SPL SUBWOOFER. Its Xmax is given as 25mm. Its cone diameter is 7.5". One advantage of smaller cones with greater Xmax is that a smaller cabinet works better. I wonder what other woofers are comparable.

Hi,

At strathfeild you can get a pair of them in a " PIoneer Box" for like $529 I belive.
What is so diffrent about a pioneer box then jsut a normal box, cause that price is really stupid to me.
I LOVE the look of the subs, and what I heard sounded good to me at the motor show ( 2 of them pumping in that pioneer box ) .
What are you goign to use them for Skinny Boy? Are you trying ported, pelase tell me how you go.
