I've had my eye on these for some times now... ever since they sold for their rrp.. 😛

http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/subwoofers/tsw305c/index.html

they were $94 each. EDIT: which isn't really THAT cheap, but compared to the rrp, and $188 VS $700 I was going to spend on Peerless....

400 Watts Nominal Rating
Qts = 0.340
Qms = 15.095
Qes = 0.348
Xmax = 9.2mm
Fs = 32.7 Hz
Vas = 51.45 litres
Sens = 89dB 1w/1m I believe...

pioneer actually makes some good subs. I had a pair of 12" with the IMPP blue cone, and they were really efficient and clean. For what I paid, they were one hell of a value. However, once you've had a sub with 24.6 mm of xmax, sensativity of 93.2 db, its tough to go back 😀

the first sub i ever built was a pioneer impp (silver). I put it in a box that was way too big for it (based on the recomendations) and used a ton of stuffing. It actually sounded good for what I paid. I ended up giving it away for free after I built a better one, and the kid that got it was almost salvating as he somehow managed to fit it into his car.

nah, those silver coned ones are ****... assuming I'm thinking of the same ones.. the ONLY pioneer subs I would ever buy are the ones I have....

lol "VCCS" Voice Coil Cooling System... as far as I can tell, its a vented pole piece... and who wants "VCCS" printed on the cone of their subwoofer 😕

hey, this one must be good:

2000watts rms.... 5000watts peak... 10mm x-max... hey? lol

lol, they actually are okay for SPL competition apps it seems. Pioneer's 9+ extreme vehicle with somewhere around 115kW (yes, that's not a typo) pulled off a 173.xx off the dash setting a new world record.

I had a pair of the silver 15's back in the day and they weren't horrible. There are subs in that price range that sound a lot worse, that's for sure. I woudn't call them 'good' but not terrible either. I gave the pair away for free recently. I have to say I'm in LOVE with my JL 10w7. 3" peak to peak and it does it SO clean. I bet if you could get a nice ~750w amp it would be a good performer in a HT set up too.

I've heard that those pioneer subs you bought are leaps and bounds above the silver diamond plate subs. I've been told they're a pretty good value for the $.

on another note, if you're looking at car audio subs look at the Image Dynamics IDv3's. They're running about $100 for a 12 on ebay brand new right now and they're a damn fine sub. I had an IDQv2 (higher line, but the IDv3's are supposed to be better than the older IDQv2, IDQv3 hasn't been released yet) and I loved it. I sold it only after I bought my w7 actually. It sounded great with 175w and it sounded amazing with 450w. I'm sure the IDv3 woudl perform similar, only a tad better.

That's why I ended up not getting a pair of them. The 15 inch ones had a cone about the size of a normal 12 inch. The surround was about 50mm wide IIRC. The other thing was that they were 4 ohm only.

Those 8 inch ones of yours definitely *look* the part. No two ways about that. That said, I would probably be happy with a pair.

Those 5kW Pioneers; pity they are only 89dB sensitivity. Looks like they could move heaven and earth.
