OK, like it says in the title I have budgeted ~$500 to $600 Australian to spend on my new projector setup. Basically What I would like to know is what would be the best route for me to take with this kinda of money to spend.

My thoughts were to take the LCD Monitor + OHP route. So I'd buy an OHP, an LCD Monitor and a Video -> VGA Adapter of sorts then open the LCD monitor, setup adequate cooling then place it on top of the OHP. This would allow me to acheive a good quality LCD setup with good colours and no screen door and with the right light setup (will mod the OHP later) I should be achieving quality close to tht of a commercial projector.

But, this is my thoughts and even though Ive read much on this whole thing, I havent actually experienced ne of it for myself, so thats why I need you guys to help me. The other options I guess ive got would be going for a high end LCD Panel (like a QA-2500 or Nview z310) + OHP or maybe a CRT projector (but shippng for one of those to Australia is HUGE and atm I havent researched them enough to know what to look for.

So yeh, if you guys could put in some suggestions about the route I should look at taking it would be greatly appreciated 🙂

an lcd monitor will cost you about 200-250$
for the panel around 100$
but the hi end panel cost much more
I live in italy and shipping from the USA for an lcd panel
cost me (with usps) about 50$ + 25$ of tax (9lb)
the ovh projector is heavy so the shipping cost from USA
are also expansive.....
.....so the only thing I'll tell you is to pay attention to the shipping cost....for this I can say that 350$ US is not enougth for an hi end panel with the projector.....
good luck
Matteo

Thanks for the info about the other high end panels, just a quickie though - do you think they are able to compete with a good LCD monitor???

Also, I'm pretty much focussed on going the CRT projector route atm, I just have to try and find a cheap one in Australia as shipping from US -> Aus is momumental for those things 🙁
