I agree with Elvee. My experience is (begrudgingly) that more useful results come by searching through Google with reference to site:diyAudio.com.

As a quick test I've picked another member with the same status, Daneel. Last seen 2011:

The user is not recognised outright if you type the name in the search box but if you type it correctly and hit search then all the posts come up.
Nothing for minek but there is a milek.
@Elvee are you sure the user name was a valid one?

I can see lots of references to 'minek' in posts but when I look closer they really mean minek123 who is a real person here. Many are referring to minek123 incorrectly as minek... well incorrectly if you use it as a search term.
I'm going to say minek does not exist 🙂
I'm going to say minek does not exist 🙂
I simply gave an example based on a half-bogus identity.
The problem is not to find one minek or minek123, but to find a thread started by minek123 (not just any post) having peculiar code words or other peculiarities
This is just part of the problem with the new search tool, and as a last resort, to avoid wasting time, I simply use google which works much better, although not specifically DIYaudio oriented. A shame, if you want my opinion.
Having massive heaps of results looks nice for a search engine designer, but for the end user having one or two really relevant results is much more valuable

Problem I have with the search is that if more than one word in entered, then it returns results for either word. Putting quotes around the word phrase still doesn't cause it to search for the multi-word pattern.
I use the forum search system in 99% of cases. It wants a helping hand to work around some things.
The 'Search Titles Only' and 'Display Results as Threads' boxes narrow down the results for this kind of search.
I also like to select search by date to put them in order.

- However the content is still available. Only minek123 is current, minek has not been used lately and is dormant. While only minek123 will appear in the shortlist when you start typing in a search box or the member list box, the other account will work all the same.
Eg: Go to Members > Member List, and enter minek. Wait for the page loading stripe to whiz by at the top of the page, then click again in the box to dismiss the shortlist containing minek123.. you can then see the profile of minek

Bingo..I think your specific issue with minek comes down to the fact he shows as awaiting reverification of his account.

I haven't been able to make the diyAudio search engine find all posts by member scott wurcer which include the word "conformance". I know such posts exist, (here is one example) . What should I do?

I also found the search function pretty much useless (for all xenoforo based boards) because usually I know some special characteristics of a post I want to find but it's impossible to tell the software the constraints.
Like "thread started by", "has attachment", "quotes member xyz"...
... and most importantly, logical set of keywords with AND, OR and NOT functions. And keywords with wildcards for single and multiple characters, double quotes for true verbatim search, etc. This is so very basic that it's beyond me why it is not there.
Basically all the stuff you'd use if you were to form a database search request, from a programmers point of view. Including nested searches (search in results).
So, the additional expert search feature would be a full list of properties one can think of and then select "same/different/any" for each to formulate the query, ANDing them all together. Alternatively some sort of direct query language.
I do understand that it is not going to happen, given the huge effort and limited use cases for some rare expert search tasks. So I will spend more time on pretty much generic (local or google) searches and then go through all the posts manually if I really bother enough....

I doesnt do want I want it to do: here is an example, based on your settings, a search for the threads started by Minek123 containing the word "linear":1. I don't use the default search start page, I use the Search Threads tab.. it has more options.
The 'Search Titles Only' and 'Display Results as Threads' boxes narrow down the results for this kind of search.
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/search/1843073/?q=linear&t=post&c[users]=minek123&o=relevance&g=1
What I get is a mess of various threads started by anyone:
I think Elvee was looking for a thread started by minek123 and the word "linear" in the post text (not the title).I don't believe minek123 has started a thread with 'linear' in the title.
enter into Google:
site:diyaudio.com "minek" "linearity"
.......
must be in quotation marks as stated above
site:diyaudio.com "minek" "linearity"
.......
must be in quotation marks as stated above
stv, in that case I'd either bring up an instance of each thread (there are only a handful in this case, and search each for posts.. or, search all minek123 posts for linear, then view the two pages of results and cull them as I go down the list, by thread starter and by duplicate entry.
Not, perhaps what you wanted to hear.
