In the early 1980's when I was novice at electronics I too ka none working sound to light unit to a place called "Radio house". The bloke their repaired radio's and TV's.
He showed me how t ofix the sound to light unit, in fact it just needed a new triac.
We got chatting about guitar amplifiers and I commented on how popular valve amplifier were with guitarists. He popped through the back and came back with a very, very old bottle type valve amplifier. He said to replace the paper capacitors to make it safe and it would be ok as a guitar amp.
It sounded pretty good.
I would pop in now and again and have some good chats about electronics.
He had been a radio engineer during the second world war and flew planes too.
