i did the psone lcd mod and put it in my new pc case since i had to get one anyways. my camera absolutely sucks, it's a very old one so i can't show you how good it really looks.
in fact, i'm not sure why one would bother with the VGA method. i just used a S-video to RCA adapter (23 bucks though from RadioShack) and it came out great. especially since i used the ATI software to change contrast, color, etc. (however, the Catalyst software will only recognize the psone lcd as a TV since it's S-video out.
HOWEVER, what the hell is the red line i get through the middle of the lcd? sometimes it never shows up one i turn it on. it's a thin vertical red line. and it is either there at start up to finish or not, it does not come on or off while there is power.
do you think this is why the bold people try to solder the vga connection?
oh, one cool thing, is that somehow my ATI software knows to make the lcd full screen and look great when i run dvd's.
it's awesome except for the red line.

The reason it comes up full screen is because the s-video is a TV output, not something intended for a computer monitor (which can be adjusted independantly of the computer). As good as the output looks on it, using RGB will still get you a much better appearance and you can do a lot more fine tuning to the screen than you can just using the composite input.
As for the red line, it sound's like something is loose. Make sure everything is soldering down well and that the FFC is plugged in all the way.

ah, bad *** link V1. thanks.
but in florida we don't have big enough addicts to even do that.
most of us have these really crappy small ones you can't even crawl through.
but i could use the idea when i get a house and do it through a false wall and stuff.

yea i have apartment .. so im screwed with that to .. but someday ill have a house maybe .. lol hey yer psone screen looks good how much you pay for it ? how hard was it to mount it ?
i payed 30 bucks but that was with shipping.
as for mounting, it's too easy.
the lcd driver board fits just almost snug between width of atx bays. (pull out two)
then i used strong adhesive dabbed onto the driver board to the plastic case on the inside, it sits flush against bottom of next driver board so the glue is just to keep it from tipping backwards, now i just need to cut some glass or plexi glass and cover it so no dust gets in the case.

it's much clearer in person.
my camera is a very old .5 megapixel camera... it made it look like jaggies when in real life there isn't.
the resolution looks just like TV. 800 or 600 by whatever....
the only downside is the red line that goes through the middle. (might be avoided by the pain in the *** vga solder method.
yes for 30 bucks i think it's worth it. often i change monitors and now i can see the boot up start and stuff. plus i can use this for a mp3 emulator stand alone computer.
the possibliities are endles..

hmm touch screen would be nice... see i always wanted to get a full size tower case and put a 13-14inch lcd on the side of the case ...
yeah, that's what my friend thought immediatlely when he saw my computer.
touchscreen. but how to you make one touchscreen? they have to be manufactured that way, right?

With the huge movement of car pc's monitors must be touch screen and still be small. Unforutetally the specs on them dont really look like much, but I guess if you put em next to the ps screen it will look killer. Liiliput, hami, super, etc they are all over ebay. I havent noticed any touchscreens smaller than 7 inch, but I am sure they are out there.
