I found a bunch of old audio equipment and want to know what is worth keeping and what I should throw away. There are a whole bunch of CTS pots. Some philco pots, and many transformers. I'll need to tealst the trafos though.
I have never used capacitors as big as the ones here and wonder if they are in demand.
Before I throw away something clvaluable I wanted to ask here.
Thanks
Philip
Still chasing great sounds and dreaming up the next.

So those massive capacitors aren't collectable? I have a lot of sprague and mallory caps. Do people still use them? I have some that have never been used.
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on their condition & use. You can use NOS capacitors but before that you need to reform those by gradually applying some voltage.
Capacitors tend to age out and become leaky, especially paper encased caps & electrolytics. The collection shown is not likely to have much value. Of course the best way to find out is to put them up for sale and see if you get any buyers. You never know.
The two R-core transformers look new. They're even labeled with their specs, so they're quite usable - maybe in a preamp project or a DAC power supply? The rest is junk.

I "love" that several 9 V batteries are just tossed in there. When I was about 12 years old, I bloody near started a fire with one of those when I tossed it into a drawer that also happened to have a wad of steel wool in it.

Is there a bag of honeycomb inductors on the second picture?
It can all be useful for people who like to restore vintage radios and other vintage equipment. You won't get a lot of money for it, though.

I saw some oil capacitors. Unfortunately one was clearly labeled chlorinol, and that is likely to include PCB! Look up chlorinol on the web. It probably is still good but if it is leaking, it has to be disposed of properly through a licensed hazardous waste disposal company/facility.
Thanks Halauhula, i will look that up.
I guess i should index and put everything up for sale.
I will try using this site as a platform to sell from.
Is there an auction feature here?

I'm in a similar situation as the OP — I want to sell parts in bulk, but I have no idea how much they're worth. Is it okay under the regulations here to advertise on this marketplace and sell them through an eBay auction?
These too. Maybe I should do a separate thread about the turntables and several valve and tranny amps.
Or I can continue this thread updated.
Here is the list:
A fisher x100c
An old atwater Kent 50c
H.H. Scott stereomaster 384
Realistic sta168
6 Baldwin amps
3 jensen p15 15" speakers
3x D-513-024599-C
(2 are frame only)
Some Baldwin 15s
1x A-513-18858 285 619.
1x C-513-12525
Baldwin 12s
3x D-513-030955
Eico 2080
Heathkit wa-p2 preamp
Heathkit w-3m
Garrard model T
Rekokut R33
Hellicrafter ham radio
1 University diffusicone 12
2 University UC-153 15" speakers.
I am wondering which of the valve amps will sound best when restored, only need to keep a couple of the Baldwin speakers
Will either recone or sell the frames to 2 of the jensen p15ns.
Will keep
2 Baldwin 15s.
The university uc513s
One valve amps or 2 monoblocks
I will need to figure out how to power the Baldwin monoblocks.
Which of the valve amps will be most like a studio monitor amp with the best frequency response curve?
Also about 300 tubes and a tube tester.
And lots of transformers.
And some small radios...
My intent is to sell most of the stuff and use the money to build a DAC as well as a nice amp like a pass labs one.
With a giant trafo, some massive caps, one bridge rectifier per channel and something like a 2sc5200 2s 1943 pair by Toshiba.

The speakers and amplifiers and ham equipment all have value to people that appreciate them.
CTS pots have value to musicians depending on values.
list on Ebay or contact local clubs.
Most the old timers never used or abandoned facebook
Which is better for younger buyers.
before throwing it away, donate it to a club

100% agree. I wouldn't take all of the other stuff, even if it was for free. The two R-core transformers look new. They're even labeled with their specs, so they're quite usable - maybe in a preamp project or a DAC power supply? The rest is junk.
I'm an old timer you could say. After the Garrard 301 with the rega tonearm through a beard p80 I think it was called with a homemade preamp on some tannoy hpd385As, I grew a new set of ears. I play a jazzmaster 61 reissue my friend Kevin shields hooked me up wit'.The speakers and amplifiers and ham equipment all have value to people that appreciate them.

But I refurbished most of then sold all that (except for the fender) when I left UK and was without good sounds for a while till I built a nice mosfet amp in Thailand which I sold them came back to USA where all this gear was waiting for a dude with old ears.
But now I'm into mosfet amps with massive trafos and many mhz comparators somewhere inside the +&- transistors. And something more like altec 604s or old triaxial Jensens. Dsd source all day.

- I found all these vintage parts. Are any of them worth anything? Worth keeping or selling? I'm actually building a Marcel DAC and am willing to trade
