One problem is that you are tapping your own head. There is mechanical movement of the body involved. I can agree that gives some type of modulation. It would be better to have somebody else tap the head.
There are also actuators for bone conduction that are used in audiology and sound therapy. That would allow you to play with these things, if using uncorrelated signals for air conduction and bone conduction, which is usually not supposed to happen in nature.
