I don't believe cables make a difference, any input?

A good reason besides democracy is this thread serves to inform those who are new to the joys of audio reproduction that there is a real controversy about the sound of cables.
When you are new to something you lack information, at least this thread serves to alert a newcomer that it is not a given that you need to use expensive cables or even worry about them unduly.
And you can even make your own!
Cheers.

One of the sad aspects of subjective beliefs is that DIYers will become discouraged, believing they need expensive, "magic" components to achieve excellence.

Cheers

One of the sad aspects of psuedo-objective beliefs is that DIYers will become discouraged, believing nothing they do will ever better inexpensive components which already achieve measured excellence past any known scientific metric for audible perfection within their operating range. Why bother if the LM1875 as implemented in my TV can't be meaningfully bettered?

.....Still, I seem to hear differences, bit I don't necessarily prefer one over the other most of the time. It must be the low rez system I own....

Good post, I am in the same boat. But I don't buy the low resolution system thing, as when the audibility of cables first became public it was heard on what today might be considered low resolution systems. Unless of course there has been no real progress in the resolving ability of our equipment.

Cheers. I know I have been "taken in" big time during the pre internet days by reading magazines and listening to salesmen.
Maybe I am a soft touch but the lack of neutral information probably had something to do with it.

You are right and i enjoy my system a lot. If i compare it to ampified life music it usually sounds better. What i tried to say is that we have to look outside the box sometimes or we are trapped. What i miss is a repoduction system that is better physically then my Vinyl Stereo Setup, the best sound i got so far in my room. And i tried multicannel SACD. After some intesting experiences i got bored and took it off. To much strange, illogical information from the sourrouds and mostly only classical music availlable (i like classical but not ony). I am thinking about a multichannel Phantom Source System for example. I have a patent on a Phanto Source and the prototypes really shocked the people. I am talking about advances here and not optimising old systems.
