For that you're invited to a cabal of your choice. If it's the monthly, it's black dress only. 🙂I measured my coolness, and unfortunately the numbers support your observations... 🙁
I think we can get a collection for some of the less fortunate here that can not hear anything unless it is hooked up to a scope 😀
Better: a collection for those who really get a buzz out of listening to music, who are not super-duper audio enthusiasts with technical knowledge, but went, in good faith, to a well known audio store (well laid out, nice equipment, advertises in local media, seemly knowledgeable salesmen) and got convinced to spend their limited budget on ridiculously expensive audio cable (or even power cords!!!) rather than on equipment that would really have made a difference and got them much closer to the emotional satisfaction of high quality music reproduction.
No one should support the snake-oil merchants. They demean us all.
Give it up Curly, we're busted. It's pointless denying it any longer. Yes, all the 'subjectivists' talk about how much cooler we are than J.R.Freeman at our secret cabals, save for the Monthly Grand Fête which is spent stalking auplater. And we're deluded?
I'll admit to being deluded, and if that's uncool that's cool. 😎

You went to a flashy store that is there to make as much money as possible (a machine). That was not an audio store. The stores that I worked at would have given you a money back guarantee, if you were not satisfied with any purchases. The biggest and most flashy are also the most crooked (they are there to sell mass amounts of products as fast as possible). There are good cables out there and dealers that will treat you like a customer(someone that they want to keep and continue to serve). Turn the rocks over. They are still out there. I just do not know how this industry will ever survive with these types of mass market stores treating customers like cattle without regard for future business!

That means no pants... no cheating now.

The stores that survive do offer good service and let you try at home for at least a week. They know they can't talk you into anything and so let you try before you buy.
That has been my experience.

Those are the only ones that I would do business with at all. It is a damn shame that the good ones may not have the flashy stores, full of fancy interior designer layouts, etc, but they have quality people, quality equipment and great customer service. What they lack is huge advertising budgets to make their presence know to the masses or the real estate to find them easily due to retail rent costs. They do allow you spend time with the equipment, time to listen and no ** to try to persuade you to drop your wallet in the first 10 minutes of your arrival.
I always go to the places that know how to make a system sing. Not the very best, but all of them. A little expertise can do wonders with even lower cost equipment, because they understand what works well together. It is actually a commentary on how people shop too. They seem to feel most comfortable in the fanciest salons, I guess because of perception. It is sad that the very best are often the small shops, but that is what it is I guess.

SInce we are on the topic of arguing and complaining about cables. Is there a actually way of measuring a cable ? Using a meter? or a Capacitance meter ? Scope ?
What exactly does a burning in cable machine do ? Does it just run current through it with a pulse ?

A gimic that is suppose to do something ? How do we know it actually does something ? For all we know it's something that just puts lets say 9V across to wires and looks pretty.
What does it actually do ? Will a Capacitance meter show any thing ? is there a tool out there that will show a before and after ?

WIth the 7000 post's it will take for ever to find.yes, cables can be measured. see my earlier post.
It's taking another $500 out of your pocket.
$500 if made a difference i would buy, will take a year or so, since im making cables, and hardly any profit is gained, i would have to use my own money, sure i would but where is the proof that it actually does something.

Helps buy braces for the daughter of the guy selling that sort of fraudulent stuff.
