The theory is that the plating should be "slower" than the core, very unlike the common silver plated copper, which should be avoided

Well, my dear friend, I take issue with you first possibly now. Your present diyAudio signature there is a word. The science has at least a part according to my point of view, which more will never ever be, than magic and faith. Namely from the theory of the Big Bang there is a word. Not talking about it already, what there was before it? Science accepted with faith though, that this question does not make sense. Likewise from a priest you can't receive an other answer if you ask it from him, there is god?

Science is a method.
A way, an approach to test & to try to get more knowledge.
Some Knowledge that we can trust.
Scientific approved knowledge is not static.
Our knowledge will change with time. Be revised and new things will be approved.
New models for reality will evolve.
New and modified, improved models of reality, like Einstein model, will come.
Without any method to classify our knowledge and put it to test
we would be more in the hands of what 'The Power', 'The governement' & 'The Authority think is right.
Like once we were forced to have same ideas like Pope & The Church.
The Scientific method is the best tool we have.
This does not have to say it is perfect.
But without Science, I would not have gain as much good knowledge
as what I got as a schoolboy.
And what I can teach myself today.

Hi hihopes, what method did you use to determine if there are audible differences between every single piece of wire not built into your hifi boxes?
Of course, in the Multiverse, there are many universes which have truly unbelievably superb cables: providing soundstages of stellar proportions, not just air but a vacuum between performers, and where everybody can confidently be certain that the cable "adds nothing" as well as "taking nothing away."
Just a crying shame that in many of these cable-blessed parallel universes, nobody has any ears.

I reckon that we find too much attention for the cables here for a long time. I am willing to believe it anyway, that Lineup my friend has the truth, in as much ,will not cause an audible difference hardly, if we exchange a good cable to the other one. If we talk about good cables.

Well, I got my gold pressed latinum and and wrapped it in tanned tribble skin. I'm very impressed. The tribble skin, hair on, has dissipated the hf noise very nicely. If you pull the hair back you can see the low frequency electrons being carried back and forth by the latinum and if you count how many electrons... (come on fellow geeks help me out)...

Somebody asks me how fast an apple falls, I ask them for an estimate of how high was it to start with and give them an estimate they can't disprove. Somebody asks me how big god is and I give them an estimate of infinity (get your quality control manager on it). Somebody asks me how good are your speaker cables, I say, "what are you listnening for. Is it pleasing to you?" That's how good my speaker cables are. Yes, they are better than the last ones I tried. That's how pleasing they are to me. Now prove it.
There inlies the rub for both sides. "Now prove it." Both are impossible. Science is the knowledge of not knowing, god is the knowing of no knowledge, let's see how that plays out in the realm of speaker cables. Ghosts...
But, I think the general question is, from a scientific standpoint, based on not only the physics of the wire, the statistics of the human population, the gullibility of the average human, the infinity of life, the universe and the meaning of everything... The big question really is, "Should I spend $42/m of cable or is $100 really better?"
And the answer gleaned is: Yes or No. one or the other, both are fine. 42 is in fact, a fine sort of number you could, without any fear, introduce to your parents.
