it just seems to get more complex.
Not at all, just basic freshman physics.
I use Audyssey but I do not like a flat response. I know its accurate but I still don't like it. I like using a Pro kit or a DCX to set my own curve. I realize this isnt what purest would do but Im not them. I enjoy what I do, what I have.
Eek this another problem all together. Don't get me wrong I use EQ but it's just to offsett what these mastering engineers do to most every recording and not to correct a room. But eh that is another topic all together. I actually have wondered if maybe that is why CDs are so damn bright - weird "calibration" by the pros and just too much "room treatment" which probably just leads to the high end being weak.
.
Mo Norman was one of the quirkest players period but he could hit a 2 foot spot from 200 years (Saw him do it).
Sht, that's a long shot, how old is he? 😀
Don't encourage him.....in my view he is a flamer.

Oh, Im a flamer....nice.
Stay on topic please! Or do you have a problem with the rules 😉
Sht, that's a long shot, how old is he? 😀
He is dead now but he use to do demos near where I grew up and he would place a 20 sqft mat 200 yards out.
than he would ask someone to pick a corner 😉
He was an incredible canadian golfer, very cool story.

Yeh, thats a topic in itself.
I actually have a DCX with different settings based on the type of music Im listening to and my mood.
Yes. Conscious ones, too. I remember the early days of The Audio Critic- if a speaker didn't use a KEF T27 tweeter, the highs were no good.
Thanks.I know about conscious bias(I do it sometimes 🙂 ),I was just wondering about the unconscious one.
lmao, I was re-reading it and yeah "Placebo" sticks out.
Yep, you post is better! I just would add "Science says there is no difference".
Lets make a deal. How about "...many scientists say there are no difference...." This way we leave science the right to make some moves and perhaps surprise us 🙂
It seems that only the critical listening crowd gets bent out of shape in every thread like this. I never understand their misplaced passion.
Yes it must be similar to a guy that hit a small white ball with a stick the whole day long. 😉

OK, you don't like a flat response, should I change my system now?

Then you don't belong in a cable thread.
I enjoy what I do, what I have.
Me too.
I know pro audio amps are as good as high end amps but I still own a Sunfire for many different reasons (I also own about $5K in pro amps).
One day when you hear a high-end amplifier you might change your mind.

Problem is, "science" doesn't say that and can't as a matter of logic. The best that can be said is, "There is no evidence to support it."
Sure. There would be zero debate if someone like Curl Woods would just realize that science is a little more advanced and a little more rigorous in its testing methods then someone like him.
But if we use science all the time. NO-ONE (except those that have double blind whatevers) would be allowed to say. I use this or that topology or feedback or part and I like the way it sounds.

Yip you listen like you read, 😀 I thought he must be dead after a 200 year shot.
You've said:

Gmf, did they ever write a believable unbiased article? 🙁

yep, you are right....I didnt read it, it was my post I knew what it meant 😀

The missplaced passion you have is your defense of something that isnt defendable not the passion for audio but Im cool with your insult since some will say Golf is a 4 hour walk ruined.

Never said that. I simply say I know Im altering my signal to something less then accurate and Im okay with that.
Then you don't belong in a cable thread.

Wow, I don't belong?? Thats cool, I apologize for interrupting.
I still have that $1K US (that might be too much for you) if you want to really challenge a what you think is a low high guy like me.

Subjectivity is a tough sell when you have to validate isnt it 😉

Accurate what? The EQ starts at the mic and ends at mastering. A lot of recordings are bass heavy or light etc., is adjusting them subjectively a sin.

"Accurate" as in some people believe setting up a system to be flat is accurate setting a house curve or having a curve that rolls off the highs would be inaccurate (as you put it a "Sin"). When I talk about EQing Im talking about EQing a system in room is independant of any recording with Audyssey or similar.
I forgot to ask Mr Visser what amp I should go out and buy to compare before we have our challenge?

I didn't mean it as an insult, just a similar passion. I don't understand the "misplaced" though and why do I have to defend my passion?

Sometimes you came over as if your way is the only acceptable way.
Wow, I don't belong?? Thats cool, I apologize for interrupting.
Sorry Doug, that came over wrong, meant to suggest that a cable thread will interest "purists" more, if that doesn't interest you why bother in a cable thread.

You've lost me here.
