Hi,
When the cables are different (i.e. different values for R, C,or H) then it's quite normal to prefer one over another for whatever reason.
The issue here however is why anyone would hold a preference for one over the another when the cables are technically identical?
Cheers, 😉
EDIT: Quote source is Panicas k, not Curly Woods.
I know what the issue is.I also remember someone who said that he can make measurably identical cable to one he won't know what is made of.
Since then we have not heard if he or anyone else has done anything.
You smiley breaks the link. 😉
Excellent graphs. BTW, an invaluable hint for playing with higher rez audio recorded by others is to always run it through a spectrum analyzer first. You'll be surprised how often audio at higher than Redbook sampling rates shows Redbook brick wall filtering.
Now is 14-15 khz? Please stop there,or I will try to disconnect my speakers tweeters and see if I can hear a difference😀
At the age of 52, 14-15KHz is usually the limit. Prior to that I mentioned 16 as I thought Curly Woods was in his mid forties.
Read up on the topic, then we'll discuss this again.
Magura 🙂
I am open minded. I believe what I hear. If you can prove to me that I can not hear what I do, then I will listen to your arguments. I never close the door on anything that could improve my listening satisfaction.
It's been proven already, even several times.
But since you insist that the earth is flat, because you can't see it's round, there's no point in proving anything to you.
No matter what, you couldn't possibly admit to be wrong.

Hi,
The reason I congratulated the poster is simply because it's undeniably true.
Admitting to that does not imply I'd disagree with you.
Just like yourself I've spend a lot of time listening to differences in sound of all kinds of devices.
I also devised some protocol to make sure that what was heard was repeatable.
Note that I could probably have worked much faster if I'd have had proper measuring equipment at my disposal at the time.
Luckily a friend technician had.
So we measured whenever deemed necessary to see if we could find a corroboration with what we heard in the listening room.
As far as LS cables go, I can't say in all honnesty that I've ever heard something that couldn't be measured.
Rest assured, there are still an awful lot of things I hear that I wouldn't have a clue how to measure.
That doesn't mean it can't de done, though....
Cheers, 😉
Comparing two cables by trying to hear their FR differences is one thing. To choose the one that helps you listen to the music is totally different.
Frank, this is your view of things too, that is the reason why I some times wonder how you can "congratulate" posters who's posts are based on a different view than yours🙂 Note:I'm not asking for your support on any of my views 🙂

Hi,
As it happens, I am your age as well.
Assuming my hearing ability has dropped to 15KHz I'm not happy when someone deliberately curtails the bandwidth to 15KHz.
I'll hear the difference straight away.
Maybe my brain works like a diff-amp? 😱
Cheers, 😉

The arrogance is laughable.

As often as possible I listen to a radio science show on CBC called Quirks and Quarks. Today's show one of the topics was synesthesia. I immediately thought of the connection to how we perceive sound and "what difference cables" or any other component have to our listening experience. I couldn't put the link of the podcast here but you should be able to find it from here.

here is an intro to the radio show
Wednesday is Indigo Blue.
Imagine a world where you see numbers and letters, and even days of the week, in specific colours - every number 7 looks red; every time you see the letter A, it appears to be green; and Wednesdays feel indigo blue. Or a world where violins sound pale brown, while pianos sound bright yellow. Or a world where images evoke tastes, sounds have smells, and personalities have colours and shapes. Well, that world is real for thousands of people with a condition called synesthesia, where their senses overlap and combine in strange ways. We'll speak to a neuroscientist who is studying the brains of these unique individuals.
It appears that more than 5% of the human population is effected to some degree. Not only do we hear sound we can feel it, not the vibration but the actual sound, see sound, smell sound taste sound.
That last mod I made smells like roast beef with all the trimmings. No wonder I think it sounds better. The mod before smelt like liver and brussel sprouts, not my favorite.

And you continue to try to change my mind based upon your understanding of what? Let it go.

Naah Frank, I'm only 34 🙂 Curly woods was the example here.
Anyhow, could it be due to the compression, rather than the lack of the last KHz?
I would think so, as the attempts so far to demonstrate that we perceive sound above our hearing limitations, has not made it past theory.
Magura 🙂

You asked for proof, and were given proof.
The proof had nothing to do with my understanding of anything, but were based of scientific evidence.
That you are unable to understand and accept well known science as proof, says a lot about you.

Why all comments talk about improvements? No one said that every time they listen to a cable or anything else there is an improvement.
What it has been said is that if one hears something that brings improvements in his system and according to his taste and understanding, and he can afford it,then, yes he may buy it.Before that,he may have rejected some others, regardless of price, looks, reviews, theories etc.......
Something smells bad here............

What is your hearing limit at your 34?
Speakercables must be seen as extensions of the amps powerways and must be dimensioned with that in mind. For SS-amps there`s one main focus; aviod any resistance by using short, thick massive conductors.
That`s the fact folks, simple as can be.

You amaze me. I guess I should sell all of my audio equipment, head to the retirement home and give you all of my records. Would that make you happy. My God man get a life. There are old people out here that can still hear and hear well. Science be damned!
I believe nothing, I said this already though was.
But maybe, that the beer speaks in me only, so that do not pay attention to me.
We find too much attention for this case after all, possibly.

Thank you for the earth shaking bit of news. I do not live on a flat planet myself. Be careful when you travel. The edge is nearer than you think 🙂

Im not the one who thinks he has super hearing and all scientific evidence is wrong. All you bring to this discusion (which it isnt anymore) is your arrogant self rightous attitude that you are right and no matter what the evidence, everyone who has any semblance of objectivism is wrong. Most veteran mixers trust there hearing less than you. (guys whos careers depend on it and spend 8 hours a day manipulating and comparing sound) The ones with your attitude dont last very long. Most of the objectivists seem open to new findings as long as it makes some scientific sense. They are willing to look into it. You on the other hand are always right and never doubt your thoughts. No wonder your a salesman. What a world anyone who has to deal with you has to live in!
Of course we all hear differently (look at all the diferent ear lobes for a start) its that wonderous brain (maybe social convention/conditioning etc ) that makes us hear similarly. (wonder if Calahari bushmen do or people who used to be deaf)

Thats funny, you sound exactly like the people who believe in a flat earth.
"I dont care what the science is, I am right, the earth is flat"
You are also a hypocrite!
