panomaniac - I am a bit disappointed in your observational skill - or you never had a campfire experience where you set on one site of the fire, and one group sang "Cumbaya" opposite from you, their voices distorted through the changes in air pressure through the heated air.
The same with a fan - air pressure changes through the propeller action..
now imagine what cable sound actually might be...just letting go a fart might distort your brain into thinking its the cable...and then spouting all that hot air of a bunch of agglomerated high end buddies, maybe high not only on end but some other substances, commenting about how they never heard a cable opening a window to the soundstage like that before, among the excited screams by wifey that she heard her favourite song like never before, before tumbling into almost orgiastic ecstasy...
better go listening to PBS broadcast on SRV - I hear the ax blasting away upstairs...

Haha speaking of him. I read his tech's book and I remember him saying that he would have two colored tube screamers - one for day and one for night. Because he said the sun heated up the electronics and changed the tone. Of course the tech thought he was imagining it but made them anyway.

Sorta did, didn't I? But mine's better. Mine is electric and didn't cost anywhere near $1K

That's a new one on me! Will have to try it some time. =) Wonder why the pressure changes only brought up the mids? Maybe the frequency of the changes. Could make an interesting guitar effect. (but how whould you mic it?)

Playing at 100dB (at the listening position or measured 2" from the speaker?) and no noise between tracks?
I achieve the same, with a behringer denoiser....
but without it .....
But then again, I run only a td 125 with a dl 103, and an MG1 airarm, not high end after all...
maybe its my tonearm cable...or my IC's...
Could be the DL103.I have a very low noise with my Benz LP,while other cartridges I'm using have more.

As a non non-believer,or because of language barrier and other reasons perhaps,I might not be able or just don't want to understand the level of pleasure/satisfaction one feels by trying to imply that some of their fellow members here are just stupid. We have heard opinions based on EE,rocket science, psychoacoustics, brain damages, farts etc....Would it be possible-after some finish from their "intestinal disorders"-to hear from them when was the last time they had a hearing test and what the results were? After the sound has left the speakers, that(the ear) is the first reason of losses.Loose it there, and then just expect your brain to do the hearing. My friend is still waiting to hear the whale's sound for the last....15 years or so.........

He proved that there were no whale sounds on that recording..... 15 years ago... 😀

Mainly addressing the WAF here, but with those DIY ESL panels I would think the orange cables were a minor threat.
You'd think. 😀
Actually, the ESLs are in the garage awaiting yet another rebuild. TEL is now being frightened by a satellite/subwoofer system. Subs are 10 cu feet each, and trust me, I have taken some grief about that...

I don’t think anyone is implying that anyone else is stupid. It’s just intellectual 1/f noise. A phenomena common to all physical processes, here once it is realized that there will be no serious effort to resolve the issue both sides relieve some pressure.

It could be a possibility.🙂

I was just trying to be polite. You are right no one was implying.........many were more clear than that.

As many here continue to disregard basic physics, basic knowledge about human hearing, and fairly plain math, I can sure see why some would imply sub-standard (thanks Chris) intelligence.
As long as many here claim 2+2=5, and refuse to back that claim up with proof, I guess most people tend to trust in their calculators.

to confuse the issue
Glad to see the thread is back on track talking about cables.
Just to throw the dog a bone here I would say you are onto something with the Black-doe marketing I am in too!
Now,
just for fun any one heard of this new comer in the speaker world?
http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/02/new-flat-speaker-tech-could-make-public-places-even-louder/
Cheers,

darn the wind came up in the back yard and totally destroyed the fragile equilibrium I had achieved between my cable and the internal temperature of the second tube of the right chanel on the 300b amp... My life is in chamble,
Just kidding.

Your post simply confirms mine, and that Scott wurcer credited you among others with "good faith" and perhaps superior intelligence.
For me there is no more basic that a healthy hearing ability, just to start with. All the rest may follow. You just can't suffer from near-sightedness and talk about visual differences and expect your brain to fill what you are missing.Check your sight first, realize what's missing and then think again.
So,while 2+2 is close to 5,what you say is nowhere near.
Of course you have every right to consider yourself a superior intelligence creature because you have read somewhere,or,you have been tought that 2+2=4

Years ago, when I had basic knowledge of electronics, I also believed that cables cannot have an influence on SQ, afterwards I've learned that you must know quite a lot before realising how little you know. 😉

It has been fairly certain for a long time already that the belief in the supersitious, the unexplainable and susceptibility to hoaxes and such has nothing to do with intelligence. Very smart, very intelligent people can easily belief in what we would call snake oil in audio. If you read these threads, it is clear that in both camps there are very smart people, as well as some less-than-very-smart people. Just like in the real world. 😉

What's the price of "snake oil" in audio? If you could buy a pure silver IC for $10,(personally I can build one for that price, and using basic LCR experimentation I can tune it close to what I like)),then a $40 copper IC would well be considered as snake oil.
I have no problem however,to accept that a copper wire made by anyone else,is better than my diy one if I listen to it an like it more.
As for intelligence(more a reply that should have been addressed to magura),when I am in the mood to listen to some music, then I prefer to do it by using sub-standard intelligence than sub-standard hearing.
If I have to do something else, like for example 2+2,things are different.I have a calculator too.

Agreed.
The above post you quoted, were merely an explanation, as to why some imply sub-standard intelligence.
I for one don't care much, as long as people don't advocate superstition.
Once people begin advocating something they have no reasonable proof of, and which conflicts with common accepted science, that's about where I draw the line.
It's about the same attitude I have when Jehovah's witnesses knocks on my door.

sub-standard hearing.
This is getting old!
Pulling the (very) old "those whom can't hear it are deaf", instead of proving that you can hear it, is just a tad too low.
If you actually can hear it, proving so is a walk in the park, so why don't you?
