Hypex UCD Vs Connexelectronics iraudamp7s

I've compiled some potential class d amp options (attached) showing cost differences between Ncore, UCD and connexelectronics. prices are Canadian

I also investigated possibility of using connex SMPS with the ncores or UCD.

This was after liking what I heard out of an LJM 15D powered by connexelectronics SMPS.

I hope people find this useful.

Most of the feedback on the web is that the UCDs are very nice but the ncores are step up in bass grip and cleaner top end.

Has anyone had the opportunity to listen to a Connexelectronics classd amp (iraudamp7s based) vs a Hypex UCD? I couldn't find anything after a web search and its not clear if the Hypex UCD is a worthwhile step up from Connex.

Thanks,

Dave

I think that depends on where the crossover is.

If it's active, and based on measurements of the drivers driven by the intended amps, then the cheaper one is probably better.

If it's passive, then the one that interacts with the driven load less (UcD) is better.

Thats a wash. I design and build my own loudspeakers using quasi anechoic measurement and detailed cad.

I can make the load look like anything I want without changing the voltage transfer. I had planned on flattening the tweeter inductive impedance rise

I was inquiring into the more subtle aspects of perceived quality other than frequency response (and no, this thread is not open to tiresome debates about amp audibility; if anyone feels thats a canard, feel free to spend time looking at other threads).
