Originally I wanted to use the NC1200 for that specific reason, but opted for the lower distortion NCx500. I could still get the NC1200 amps and swap them, because they work with the same SMPS I'm using now. Would definitely be an interesting comparison, I'll research that.

I'm just now assembling NCX500 mono amps to pair with NC1200 mono's in a bi-amped system based around B&W800 Diamond speakers, so the NC1200's will drive the woofers and NCx500's mids and tweeters. This should get around the current / power limiting issues without sacrificing fidelity. All amps employ a single SMPS1200700 power supply, and all will be configured without any pre buffer stage, so the gains will be 11.5dB. I have a suitable balanced preamp with sufficient voltage and current to drive them to full output.
