I am thinking that since my amp has common ground outputs, I could run a single wire from Amp negative out to left negative speaker terminal and from same terminal run a wire to right negative speaker terminal.
The Left and Right positive terminals would have separate left and right wires.
This would save wire run total by 25%.
Thoughts?

My immediate thought is that this would be an inelegant and unnecessary way to connect up speakers compared to normal twin flex wiring.
Your proposed method of wiring would increase the 'there and back resistance' to each speaker compared to twin flex wiring as it would effectively half the thickness of the wire in the 'return path' to the amplifier.
And you would need to have the left and right speakers sitting right next to each other in order to fully minimise the wire run.
