Use 1 watt zeners strung together to provide source voltage to a High Voltage Darlington. Don't for get the reverse bias diode on the emitter. Any capacitance after the regulator will fry the emitter base junction.
There's a way to do it with a mosfet but they came after I learned to design Darlingtons. So I'm too stupid to learn mosfet regulators. I think they are easier. But a Darlington array works peachy.
