I'm able to pick up a Rel Strata III for relatively low price. The current owner is telling me that it is sporadically humming. This has nothing to do with any volume knows or such.
It will just sometimes start humming, and then after a while stop. Now, given the fact i cannot hear it myself, i'm just curious to get opinions of people here on whether it is a good idea to buy it and fix it...
A hum sounds like something easily fixed (i.e. fixing a loose wire, or spraying the potentiometers). But given the description of the problem, i'm a bit cautious... also, replacing the amplifier in it seems to be a very costly thing to do.
What are the opinions here?

sure, i get that. i'm more interested to find out if it is something easy to fix, or if it is likely i will need to replace the amplifier board (i.e. high cost)
How easy is it to get a new amplifier that will suit the driver?.
It's on sale for 90 i'm aiming for 50 euro.
Very keen to see if that is going to be a bust
