Just a simple question.
One of my frends was on a local jumble sale and found a box of old trafoes, some tubes, caps and resistors and so on. Why not me!
OK.
I found in the box 5 psc 6L6 tubes and 2 used Hammond 1650R (painted green
). He asked me to build a amplifier out of the parts. 2 pcs 6L5 i pp.
But the trafoes is verry big, > 300 mA and the tubes is small < 100 mA. Is that a problem.

1650R is not a bad match for P-P 6L6. It is a 100 watt transformer. A pair of 6L6 can do 40 to 60 watts depending on how hard you push them. The large transformer will allow some headroom and remove the possibility of saturation on strong bass notes. The extra iron will cost you a little bit of power (a watt or two) and may mask some fine musical detail due to the larger hysteresis in the larger iron.
If you build an amp with these transformers, and you have a large enough power transformer, you could upgrade to KT-88 later for more power.

I will se what power trafoes he have in the box. I thonk there is 2 pcs. A huge and medium type. I think the manufactur is Hammond, used and both painted green. Yak color on a trafo.
