? HT speaker loads and amp power

I'm looking at getting a 250 W sub amp for my HT speakers, to run the 12 inch drivers off the ProLigic sub-out (while my new 8" Vifas are use in my mains). the amp is rated 150 into 8 and 250 into 4. If I pair my two 8 ohm speakers in parallel will I get the 4 ohm load that the amp can safely drive or will I get disaster? I'm sure the power rating will be divided between the two speakers.

If it can be done, I'm planning on mounting the plate amp separately and wiring it to the posts on the two speakers boxesl
