Anyone familiar with an HP DPS-800GB-A power supply?
Mine has starting problems - I found that it is necessary to short Pin 31 to 34, which I did to get the 12V rail going - The fuse and fans are good - I replaced the two [large] 270 mF caps [nothing changed] - There is a click [I assume a relay] when it DOES start.
More DPS-800GB prodding - - -
I have the PS completely out of its case and sitting on my work bench - Every time I apply power I hear a faint click - If it does start, there is a much louder click [I think from an imbedded relay] - Applying input power from 80 to 140 VAC makes no difference as to whether it starts; neither does the line/neutral polarity - The PS starts an average of about 1 out of 4 times when AC power is applied -
All help is appreciated, Jack

Yea, relay turns on, when AC is present and within spec, if not, it stays off.
are you doing something similar as written here in post #880 and #881?

jumper 34 to 31 and tie pin 30 to +12V --> sometimes this helps, if not, then there is often a problem with the standby circuit ... they tend to overheating and fail ...
How do I search for post numbers - I'll be glad to do it; AND, I'll try the pin 30 to +12V connection, Jack
