In my current DIY setup:
Sony Bluray player
HD satellite receiver
Seagate media player
I am using the Firestone audio spitfire 24/96 dac, which only has 1 optical and 1 coax digital in and 1 set of rca outs.. it's not really design for multiple input.. what I had been doing was plugging and unplugging the coax whenever i need to use the dac..
that was such a pain .. then I was on monoprice and found this:
since all three outputs sound via hdmi v1.3, i plug them all into the switch box, run ONE coax to the dac and VIOLA.. works like a charm
whenever i switch hdmi inputs, the digital signal is split from the hdmi cable and output to my single dac..

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
