Well I’ve never seen such large components on a speaker crossover.

Yeah, coils are way too close.
Those caps aren't all that big. Once you've dealt with 200uf/400v film caps, then you have some real estate to contend with.

I have dealt with larger caps in power amplifiers but on a speaker crossover is rare.Yeah, coils are way too close.

That attachment is wrong. In contrast to the diagram, coils perpendicular to each other is a good idea.Never mind caps, upper right inductors are too close.
I admit 200uf film caps in a speaker corssover are rare, but become a necessity once you get into the low 100s with BSC on the LF and higher power handling. I also won't ever use an electrolytic cap in any speaker crossover, plus I rarely use active EQ and almost never DSP with my own stuff. Yes, I'm a die hard analog person.

That diagram & the associated webpage/research was one of the influencers on my layout when I rebuilt my crossovers....
& no those component sizes are not that big..I've seen way bigger.....take a look at Duelund....mind you its due to the construction type & materials...
You can tell from looking at a photo? How?That crossover looks like home-made amateur junk.
You can tell from looking at a photo? How?
Certainly not up to my "home built amateur" standard anyway..😉.......
They've used several short cable ties instead of one longer cable tie....the soldering looks rubbish, the wire colours & types are odd let alone other factors.......in a factory /small volume production these basics would be sorted out for parts ordering & for ease of build...
Come on now!You can tell from looking at a photo? How?
You really want me to answer that?
This site has become way too critical of the casual hobbyist. Years ago I found encouragement and welcoming "polite" comments that promote the hobby. Now the critic's snub their noses like they are professional designers who feel your submission is an insult to their self professed intellect!
Yes. I can see the "homebuilt" and "amateur" aspects. Nothing wrong with that. But why "junk"?Come on now!

Perhaps it's because different people have different phrases and words for something.Yes. I can see the "homebuilt" and "amateur" aspects. Nothing wrong with that. But why "junk"?
That's called Freedom Of Speech in some cultures.
A bit of a mess that one. The parts are not that big. This is the 2-way XO of the speakers i am currntly listening too.

So please enlighten us as to what 'junk' means to you as you seem to have a unique meaning for it?Perhaps it's because different people have different phrases and words for something.
So pursuing this line of questioning is for what?So please enlighten us as to what 'junk' means to you as you seem to have a unique meaning for it?
I'm done here.
