Howdy!

I know, everyone else says hello... but I felt I had to be different 😉

New guy here, looking to put together a decent system and maybe acquire a new hobby along the way. I've been an audio nut for years now, and I've been wanting to put together a few speakers of my own. I used to own a nice pair of NHT Superones, along with a fairly decent rig, but it's all gone now due to a recent catastrophe.

I'm attending WSU, and I'm working on a degree in microbiology, after several years in IT (just can't seem to find a job doing that anymore).

At the moment I'm making do with an integrated amp and a few pairs of Realistic Minimus 7's, all of which I've picked up on eBay. I wanted to see what sort of sub might go well with my wee bitty speakers (I've got a thread on the loudspeaker forum), but I'm beginning to wonder if I might just build one of my own.

Anyway, if anyone has any comments or questions, feel free to speak up... I can use the insights.

I would comment on the drier climate in the inland portion of the state, but it's gotten awfully soggy lately...

I've never owned 7's before now, but they're cheap, rugged, small (which fits my listening area well), and don't sound half-bad. I used to own NHT's, and I liked them a lot, but even the Super Zero's are out of my price range at the moment. Gotta buy things like textbooks. 🙄

So when time and money permit, I will likely relegate the 7's to different rooms and replace them with something else. I've gotten interested in the various homebuilt speakers I've seen on the forums, and I would like to try building a nice two-way/sub system in the future. Something like my sorely missed NHT setup.

Thanks for the reply,

Eric

They are good... and cheap... both of which fit well in my "biggest bang for the buck" philosophy. And I'm getting a whole lotta bang for $20.

Still, the tinkerer in me can't resist the chance to make a change or two, especially when it's cheap.

Thanks,

Eric
