Howdy from an Eastern NC electronics fanatic!

Hi! Name here is Prentice and I have been wrapped in electronics for over 30 years, and I am still a young'un! I got started early thanks to a family member that gave me a CB radio to have (after I expressed curiosity of it in his truck). He informed me it didn't work, so not to expect much. I set out on a goal to fix it, at the age of 11, and did...well, after many trips to the local library researching how they work and how to repair them.

Over 30 years later, I'm an electronics engineering technology instructor at a NC community college. I've had several "careers" over the years, all involving electronics. I've been a plant automation and robotics technician, a television repairman, an electronics service facility service manager, a Motorola two-way radio technician, and a biomedical technician. I developed a love for teaching while I attended college and knew someday that I would become a teacher. So, for almost 10 years, now, I have been a full time instructor of electronics engineering.

When I'm not teaching, I run a small business as a recording studio specializing in christian genres. I also love to repair and restore audio electronics, specifically vintage gear associated with recording (preamps, EQ's, consoles, compressors, limiters, etc.). I'm also fairly active in Amateur Radio where I also build stuff related to my "radio shack." The college has an amateur radio club where I am the club advisor and trustee. So, as you can see, I stay fairly immersed in electronics.

My other interests outside of electronics are music, metal fabrication, woodworking, golf, and church.

I recently found this site (not sure why I haven't found it before) and was immediately interested, obviously. I hope to be able to learn a lot from many here, as well as offer some of my knowledge in return. Thanks to all of you who I will meet here in the time to come.

Prentice
