If its pretty much ideally suited for purpose then an op-amp buffer is not needed.
Changing the 1R to 1.1R might be needed, but then again it simply might not.

Fine. So now convince me that there are no failure modes in the tube circuit which will not send the meter pointer accelerating to outer space!
