How to stretch mylar and heat treatment!

Could somebody explain in plain words, what happens if you moderately heat the mylar and then let it cool down? And what happens if you mechanically tension the mylar, and then heat up/cool down? And finally, do only mechanical tensioning.
In which case will it remain tensioned for long term?

I cant tell what happens exactly but i did a test a few years back. the foil that was stretched heated stretched and heated then stretched a final time, lost tension far less and is far more stable. tests where done with 3uM and 6uM the thicker mylar had less relaxing issues to begin with. but heating up in between works. hence the oven in the quad design stretching while being heated then glued.

Maybe referring to this?

Yepp!
I can confirm that QUAD is not the only one doing the heat treatment, but I´m not allowed to say who.
The lab I use is quite busy and the vacations has started... sorry for any convenience, some more measurements is done already.
The attachment of the film at the ends is critical. If you tight it to hard it will break at the ends, and if you are tightening it to loose it will fall out. 1 out of 5 was succeeding. I will try to increase friction with some coating at the ends. Lets have a summer break and enjoy the beaches!
