How to split fresnel lens?

Use a VERY fine toothed saw with high speeds (RPMs). I used a jig saw. Some use a dremmel or band saw. If you have it, the thin hot wire method would work well too.

Make sure you cut the fresnel on a SOLID surface and minimize the vibration as much as possible. Keep your cut even and sturdy otherwise you could crack or chip the lens.

Yeah, a band saw is probably the best solution that I can think of off the top of my head.

I used a blade on my jigsaw that has 32 TPI (teeth per inch). That worked fine. Be sure not to force the blade through. Also be very careful once you're close to the end of your cut. That is where I chipped a fresnel. Too much vibration; the fresnel wasn't stablized well enough.

I placed some medical tape on the bottom of my jigsaw so it wouldn't scratch the fresnel as I was cutting it. Worked well.
