Hello all.
Can anyone help me? In explaining step by step how I'd go about replacing myself all four belts ( which I have ready to swap) in my NOS/NIB Marantz cd94.
I do have the service manual but am inexperience with such and so its all rather double dutch to me!
I would however like to be able to do such 'surgery' myself but would need a rather step by step approach....first remove THIS screw then this one .. only then.... etc etc.
I expect this may be a bit of work for someone so if anyone wantsto private message me maybe we could work out if neccessary some appropriate fee I would pay to enable me to replace the belts both correctly and without scratching /marking what is an unused and therefore mint example of this classic 80's player. (this being one reason I'm nervous to hand it over to an outside tech!)

Hi Philip, I did this job a while ago. Really not a big deal and mostly self-explanatory. You need a pair of tweezers, and a "special" tool looking like a knitting needle, essentially a hook. A piece of bent paper clip will do. It will be used to position the belt to the pulley.
Thanks oshifis, are you saying that I can replace all the belts without having to remove any of the tray mechinism/ pulleys etc? ( this would be my prefered option as I'm unsure how to remove/replace such stuff.)
But initially even with the tools you describe it still looks rather difficult to see how the belts can come off and then put back on.
For example when facing the player theres a thin wire pulley that looks to be in the way for accessing the two belts to the left of the tray. Whilst I cannot even really see the second of the two belts to the right of the tray!.
Should the tray be open or closed whilst changing them?
I'm afraid being inexperienced in this I still think I may need more of a step by step guide. to get me through this.

It does not matter whether the tray is open or closed. The wire pulley (the right one on the first picture) is an obstacle indeed. Don't remove the wire end from the tensioning spring. It is easier to remove the C-clip from the shaft instead (I use a small watchmakers screwdriver), then carefully pull the pulley from the shaft, so that you can hang the 1st belt loosely on the inner ridge. This is indeed a critical step, you need to hold the pulley with the wire tensioned until you hang on the belt. But it can be done quickly. Then put the pulley back right away, and secure it with the C-clip. Now you can comfortably replace the other (2nd, smaller) belt between the motor and center pulley, and finally hook on the other end of the first belt to the center pulley.
The other two belts associated with the other motor can be replaced without removing the pulleys from their shaft, as far as I remember. It just needs some patience and the hook I mentioned before. The rotational position of the pulleys is unimportant, because they rotate until the tray open/close switch is engaged.

Actually no problem to change the belts, if you do not lose the wire rope from the drive wheel.
