Since I graduated from P mount, (7 carts since then) the shops have always mounted the things for me.
This time, I wanted to do it myself.
I took the little paper template like I read to do and set it up.
It sounds really good till you get past halfway on the record. Then it starts to mess up the S's and T's badly.
Is there a trick to getting the thing aligned the right way in the middle?
(I was told by a friend that he got rid of his protractor and prefers the tagency template paper.)

I recomend putting a clear plastic disc on the turntable ( you can buy them ) and setting up your cartridge in the centre of where the tracks will be . Then turn on the turntable and see if the cartride stays still or moves to the inside or outside. This is the only way to set the bias.
The other things to set are;
1) make sure the arm is horizontal
2) make sure the cartridge is set at the right angle vertically and horizontally. You seem to think that the horizontal angle is wrong. If so I think you should be able to see that without using any guages if you set the arm and cartridge innthe centre of the record and look at the alignment by eye. I find that you can set the vertical and horizontal angles fairly well by eye and often better than with a guage.

4) playing weight
5) arm bearing pressure and condition
My guess would be that the bias needs resetting. This is best done with a blank disc.

I think it is the antiskate weight adjustment.
No matter how low I set it, the tonearm still pulls to the right.

Have you set tracking force correctly? This can happen if the tracking force is too low.

Yes, the tracking force is set right, but I never remember the tonearm having a favor of pulling to the right.
If you use the arm lifter and give it a tap to the left, it stops right away.
But if you tap it to the right, it will travel for a good distance before stopping.
Is this normal?
