Ok, then you don't actually need a preamp with gain, just a (10k ohm) volume control.
This will have no added distortion, much less noise than a line stage, and will still
have plenty enough gain (0dB) for your power amplifier. I'd strongly recommend doing this.
And if your CD player has a volume control on the remote, that's all you need.
In fact, that Musical Fidelity preamp is the opposite of what you need, it's a high gain line stage.
There are many ready to use passive line stages available, and they are not expensive at all.
In which country are you located?

It's difficult to find close by products for you, but there should be many in England.
This is one from the USA that will work very well in your system.

Make sure that whichever "passive preamp" you may get has 10k impedance.
Higher impedance could lose the higher frequencies, and also lose some gain,
since your power amp has only 33k input impedance. Good luck.

Source is CD.
The power amplifier is the Hiraga (20 Watt, sensitivity = 0.6V (thanks again, Ryama)) and speakers are Klipsch RF7 (100 dB @ 8Ohm).
The question is this: I have to buy a new preamplifier.
Even better: You DO NOT NEED A PREAMPLIFIER
Your source signal (CD) is already more than enough to drive your current power amp, so you only need a Volume potentiometer between them.
If you mount it in a nice box with a couple connectors, you call it by its glorified name: "Passive Preamp"
For me it´s "a pot in a box" buy hey .....
Or you can follow Adason´s perfectly sensible advice of mounting said pot in the power amp cabinet.
Same thing, buy you save on extra cabinet, connectors and wiring.
Why would you amplify an already loud signal by 27dB to later attenuate it, risk clipping, increase hiss and hum, etc. is beyond me.
JMFahey, danilom stated he cannot solder the pot circuit on his own ...
Danilom: Does your CD player have volume controlled output? Then you actually don't need a preamp!
Alternatively you could try to find a cable or adapter with included voltage divider:

No, the CD output Is fixed.
Ok.JMFahey, danilom stated he cannot solder the pot circuit on his own ...
No big deal, any Tech / Electronics Hobbyist nearby can older a potentiometer wiring inside an amplifier.
I had thought the Hiraga Amplifier was built by him, based on:
* There are Hiraga kits available.
* Ummmm .... we are in DIY Audio 😉
In any case, if that amp was bought from a builder, maybe same guy can add a Volume pot to it.
With that recommendation, there are tradeoffs. Compared to the passive 24 step attenuator, which doesn't have quite enough gain for some Delos recordings in my system, and also the steps can be too large. The PGA2310 has much finer steps, has plenty of gain for the Delos recordings, but amplifies some noise from the source.
