Hi Guys,
Wondering if other ML owners experience the same. Been playing
with my Odyssey for years placement tweaking etc. Sq wise everything
is there but all is happening between the speakers. Is this due to the dipole
effect or ??? I do have diffusers behind the wall & speakers are 5 ft or so
away from the wall. Would be great if I can make them disappear.
Btw regardless of amp used effect still the same
Thks

In my experience it's mostly about room acoustics and your system setup.
If you could make a sketch of you room layout with dimensions and materials?

Wow! Quite honestly I don't believe having diffusion at about 40cm from back of the panel is doing any good... I'd rather see diffusion all the way at the TV wall. Also absorption in the first reflection points on side walls (use mirror method) seem beneficial, otherwise I prefer diffusion over absorption. Where about is your "spot" seat situated?
You might try a bit of back tilt to panels, seems to relax the sound field.

Well what well happen....you well get better output...less power to play louder...
just better over all sound....well to me...you having lived with only the Odyssey crossover sound...an all those extra parts in the input of the stepup tranfourmer..an the use of the purple wire in the secondary side...it well be a big shock.....less parts.. is more-better sound I have found..
have fun..good luck

Im sorry but where did the 40 cm come from MPS ?
5 ft from wall is like 155 cm .
Cheers
I _see_ 🙂
Looking at the photo with mobile phone really looked like diffusors were right behind the speaker, I now realize they are not.
Did you play with vertical adjustment? Just tilt back a bit but make sure all adjustments are identical on both speakers.
I fail to see how crossover modification would do anything for you since there are many users happy with their Odyssey as it is.
Hi MPS
The crossover mod really do make a difference.
Yes I did play with vertical adjustment but vertical
with no tilting is still the best for my room
Thks again

I'm bit out of ideas right now.
Normally I would have speakers as wide or narrower than the distance to seating, you can try moving your seat fore and aft.
Needless to say electronics have their affect, I had wonderful experience with ARC but there are others maybe even better.

Thanks again MPS. Over the years I've used quite a number of
commercial amps with the Odyssey including Jadis & it always
exhibited the same behaviour. Now I'm full fledged diy, that way
I can tune the sound to my liking. Besides helps to keep me busy
tweaking , building & learning. Lol
