My old Marantz Cd-56 "died" after 17 years.
Now I want to make standalone DAC with all original digitals on PC board (very good TDA 1541 chip).

Please help me where to put digital in, because I want to use coaxial digital out from CD or DVD as source.

Thanks in advence.

Thank You Frenzic for data sheet on TDA 1541.

My question is can I make complete separate DAC with original PCB from Marantz CD-56 player with SAA7210, SAA7220 and TDA 1541 DAC.

Where to put digital in (maybe point 43-1, 43-2, 43-3 on the PCB).
If possible I will use digital trafo (5303 on sch2) for input decoupling.

Zek,

That part of the schematics looks like a philips 650! Check out the other post and the pics in there. Might look very familiar!

Anyway, if you cannot revive the player (what's wrong anyway) you need to include a receiver chip (e.g. CS8412) and connect it to the 7220.

And you need to checkout the signals from microprocessor to the 7220 and/or mute transitors. If the 7210 says that there is no disk, the microprocessor might mute the 7220 or mute transistors.

Better to remove powersupply connection to the transport and it's chips (57xx), the decoder and the microprocessor. But then again, check the signals from there to dig filter and analog part.
You might have to bring some lines low or high to prevent muting.

Or remove the TDA1541 and build your own NOS dac...

Guido,
Thanks for reply.

I cannot revive the player because complete transport must be changed (I'm not shure it was model 2).

If I need a new receiver, and mess around with all this stuf, it's better to make a new DAC with CS8412 and TDA 1541 (nonoversampling, ....)

One specific type of cdm4 should be, but it is not the type which surfaced recently in germany (the 5 euro versions). There is a whole post on this. Just search!

The replacement version has a pcb with chips for servo, the 5 euro cdm4 is only a transport (and has a different shape).

If you search well enough you'll find a pic with a cdm2 and the cdm4 replacement. Guess who put it here....
