how to make a cheapy quick line out converter i think all i need is a resistor and maybe a capacitor just not sure on what value resistor or capacitor can someone help if i remember correctly it might just be a resistor?
honestly, they can be had real cheap. i wanna say 100ohm is what you want, but don't remember. i've seen the cheap ones come with pots to adjust them, too.
thanks i didn't need one after all i was installing in a 1999 toyota 4 runner which has a factory amp so i just tapped into the outputs from the factory headunit going to the amp which were low outputs and thank god there was a remote wire that i also tapped into.
An LOC doesn't only reduce the level. In most OEM head units, the speaker output is biased to 1/2 of the battery voltage. When the head unit powers up, the voltage on the speaker wires goes from 0v to ~6v. When this happens, there will be a loud pop through the amp if you only use the positive speaker wire and ground for the signal. If the amp has a long enough turn-on delay there may not be a turn-on pop but there could be a turn-off pop. The LOC takes signal from both the positive and negative speaker terminals. Since they both go from 0-6v-0 at the same time and the LOC only produces output when there is a difference in output voltage between the positive and negative speaker wires, there is no pop.
