How to handle sorbothane?

Hi there!
I got myself a couple sorbothane semi-spheres to play around. Didn’t realize how sticky this stuff is.
How do I handle it, respectively how do you handle it?

a) I use double-sided carpet tape to attach it to components.
b) It will stain finished wood and carpet. So place them on paper or something.

Ok, thanks. If I get it right, there’s workarounds for handling and avoiding secondary damage, but no „remedy“, right?
