Hi all, first post here🙂 I have some 2'x3' NXT panels I bought off ebay some years ago and have just bought a new amp which requires adjusting of the ohmage according to the speakers resistance. Thing is I nowhere on these panels does it say what the resistance is nominal or otherwise. Can somebody advise me how I could find out what the resistance is on these speakers - they are a very obscure make '3nod'
If you measure the DC resistance with a simple multimeter,
that should be sufficient to adjust your amp.
Just choose the value equal to the DC resistance or closest below.

thanks for the reply. I have tried using a multimeter but nothing is registering with the NXT panels. I tried it with normal speakers to see if I had the right settings and they are registering but the Nxts nothing
Do you mean, you cannot measure the DC Resistance ?
Is it very high or very low ?
Usual panels have dynamic exciters with normal voice coils.
So there should be a DC resistance between 3 and 8 Ohms.
Either there is something damaged or you may have panels
driven by piezoelecric exciters ... i don't know.
Have you got a picture ?

The NXT panels can't be measured with an ohmeter as they are a complex (capacitive) impedance. Your amp should be set to work with an 8 ohm load.
richie, do you know how these are driven ?
Flat panel speakers with usual dynamic exciters have normally
a pretty flat - mainly resistive - impedance.

They are not usual flat panels with usual dynamic exciters.
edit: hmm, looking on NXT website though they claim dynamic exciters with voice coils similar to conventional drivers. I'm sure this is different from how they first started out.
