can someone point me to a resource, book, webpage, blog, etc. that can explain to me how to design mosfet gain stage?
i think what i'm after is a mosfet common source or common emitter? not even sure of terms. i've been living in tube world but i want to try my hand at some discrete low voltage (9-12v) circuits for effects pedals. another idea is to scale down a tube preamp and then possibly go into a speaker emulator, fx loop and direct in for a cheap/portable recording set-up. like the rockman 100 from the 80's without the 80's sound.
i have seen pedals using the bs170 figured i'd start with that.
i've found too much info googling and nothing written for the baby brained.
thanks a million,
pat

ooo, thanks!
the part about testing mosfets seems like everything i might want to know right now. of course can't tell until i finish reading it, but usually once i can measure something i can get a feeling for how it works.
the analogy in the citation 12 project doesn't hurt either.
thank you again,
pat
