hi all
i just buy the 1796PCM DAC and figure that the output is current (4mA), so i need i/v converter.
before this DAc i have Vout DAC connected to cap and to the TUBE pre amp.
my preamp TUBE is 6N3.
there is option to connect between the DAC and my pre TUBE?
thanks

yess i read about the i/v zen and Jocko, but i think maybe use my pre with little modification.
i know about the passive way with 200R and cap, but this is the best solution?
thanks
That passive I/V converter i use now for 7 years as mod in my shanling cd100t-se cd player. Sounds for me better then any active solution.
And because your tubestage has 10k input impedance there is no problem.

Do you even need a cap into a tube stage? A 200 ohm resistor to ground can go straight into a tube stage with the DC on it, which then becomes part of the bias calculation. This assumes a permanent connection.
hi andyjevans
What you trying to say? That the C1 C2 will do the DC coupling work?
it's not influence the audio quality in i input dc?
Thanks

I don't understand your question. A previous post showed a 200 ohm resistor to ground followed by a DC blocking cap. I'm saying that you don't necessarily need to block the DC voltage into the grid of a tube - you can use it as part of the bias calculation of the operating point of that tube.
Thanks you right!
200R output DAC give about 1vdc p-p, do you think that is change the linearity of the amp?
If no i can take out the cap.
Thanks

I've no idea - you'll have to figure that out yourself with the schematic. It depends on the tube input stage.
