I posted in the main 'moode thread' here but the author of moode suggested that the question be posed in a broader context as he does not have experience with synology media server, plex, minim server, or iTunes server. How do I connect moode to minim server for example?
You need a control point.
AIUI MoOde can be a server and/or a renderer. It needs something to act as control point.
Typically this may be an Android phone or tablet running Bubbleupnp. Or maybe FOOBAR2000 running on a WINxx computer.
