I have the following generic DAC:
Audiophonics DAC Sabre ES9023 I2S vers Analogique 24bit/192KHZ for Raspberry PI | eBay
As you can see the guide on the link and various web searches has some connecting via the P5 headeronly. Whereas others are using P5 for 5V and various GPIO pins:
