Any type of transparent paint will eventually fail quickly - if you want to preserve the metallic look.
As an idea it might be possible to epoxy a sheet of tempered glass onto the metal - that's an expensive solution and difficult to apply air-bubble-free, but would preserve the look and would be rather scratch resistant.
Second idea would be car wrap, that should be available in almost every design you could imagine, including metal. Should be water resistant and can take some beating, but might need to be replaced after a while.
After all, I would go with thick chrome plating.

Thank you so much Jean-Paul, but I have this restriction: Brass. I mentioned „vergolden“, and got a no. (Door-Handles, Faucet etc already are in Brass, even if preaged, so they want to stick with it—maybe even to give me a hard time
)
I‘m fine with this as I like the material, but doing the research and chatting here is half the pleasure at least…

They want it to look like brass so the “yellowcopper” look or they want brass as material but allow a finish? There lies the difference I think. What it should be made of or how it looks. Brass without any treatment is practically impossible in a bathroom. Nasty green/blue oxidation, even poisonous. I have some antique water hardware of untreated brass but it took a long time to clean those.
Grohe brass looking faucets for instance are called “cool sunrise” and not brass so maybe they have a kind of coating (an e-mail will take a minute….) as they are actually made of brass. Definitely with a surface treatment to protect them.
