How to: 2 Tone arms into one Amp

I have a Denon PMA-800. (Which has an analogue amplification path through the amp.)

I am in the process of reviving my old turntable setup, after a 30 year plus storage in the attic.

This comprises a Garrard 301 and an SME 3012 S2 with Shure V15 III.

I have got an SME 3009 which I want to add to the turntable. So that I'll have the option of using either tone arm to play my records.

The question I have is how do I connect both arms to the amp?

The amp has connect options to Phone, CD, Aux, tape/cassette recorder. These will have SME 3012 s2, Denon CD player, Web/NAS audio sources via Heos Link and Teac twin cassette deck.

I want to have the SME 3009 available for use without having to change the connections on the back of the amp, or changing the phono lead between the tone arms.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Either add a shielded switch box between the arms and the phono input.
Or add an additional phono stage for the second arm, which plugs into one of the line inputs.

I would think that the V15 III would be happier in the shorter arm. It's a high compliance stylus.

I would go with the external preamp. Gives you the chance to compare the sound of two preamps as well. I just got an pre Shure SME 3009 installed on A Scotish made Fons turntable. I have two Technics SL-1100A turntables. I plan to mount the SME on one with an incomplete Grace tonearm. I still need to do a full inspection of the tonearm. Everything about the setup was totally wrong. But the condition looks great so far. I do have the anti skate weight. I will post updates.

Plug them in manually to your preamp.
Install a signal relay in your preamp case or the turntable to switch between the arms,
Main arm is active when off, 2nd when relay energized. Use a low noise coil supply 10ma.
You could get a second phono pre and use tape monitor.
I used a relay on the AUX input to toggle between CD and IPhone using switch on back, noiseless performance

A signal relay with gold plated contacts could be a good way to go for MM cartridges, for MC the impedances and signals are so low I'd prefer switching after the preamp (thus requiring two preamps). In general at signal impedances down at a few ohms any mechanical contact can become microphonic.
